Microdermabrasion is a very popular Tier 1 treatment for immediate smoother skin. It is primarily a superficial treatment that exfoliates the surface of the dermis and is gentle enough to be used in conjunction with other peels, LED Light Therapy and masks. You may wish to add these to your treatment to customise your experience and overall results.

As this is an advanced peel it is only recommended in conjunction with standard Microdermabrasion treatments, and we may adjust your treatment to suit your skin condition. If you need a deep exfoliation the standalone Deep Sea Peel treatment may be a better option as it will produce extensive shedding that cannot be matched by microdermabrasion alone.

What will it do to my skin?

Microdermabrasion offers a superior exfoliation and aids lymphatic processes deep within the skin. This process is much stronger than a standalone cosmetic product application. The microdermabrasion treatment is beneficial and will enable good results on its own, but gentle enough that other facial treatments can be used in conjunction. For the best results after your microdermabrasion treatment, you can further enhance the effect with a lactic and salicylic cleanse. These are active treatments that will provide a deeper result.

What is a double microdermabrasion?

Our double microdermabrasion offers a superior exfoliation and promotion of new skin cells. We use both the crystal and diamond tip microdermabrasion in a dual treatment. This provides better overall treatment efficacy, blood circulation and fresher looking skin. We do not recommend this for overly sensitive skin as it offers a deep exfoliation and may cause irritation. If we feel the double microdermabrasion is not suitable for your skin condition we will adjust your appointment and price accordingly.

Does microdermabrasion work?

As a standalone treatment, it offers great results for many skin complaints and conditions. A single treatment will have your skin looking cleaner, brighter, and smoother immediately after your treatment. Repeat treatments can be effective towards a range of conditions due to the promotion of new collagen and skin rejuvenation. However, this is a tier 1 entry level exfoliating treatment. If you are after more invasive and dramatic results we would recommend stepping up into Tier 2 and Tier 3 facial treatments.

How many treatments do I need?

The number of treatments that you need will depend on your overall goals. A single treatment will still offer immediate results and will leave your skin looking brighter and feeling smoother. If you wish to make improvements to minor acne scars or sun-damaged skin you will require multiple treatments to achieve your desired results. Our Tier 2 and 3 treatments would be more cost-effective if you have deeper scarring and pigmentation as they yield better overall results. However, these treatments are also more expensive.

Does microdermabrasion hurt?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment and is relatively pain free. There may be mild discomfort on sensitive areas around the nose or forehead but it is a very tolerable treatment. Microdermabrasion treatments only remove the top layer of skin, dirt and dead skin cells. Any discomfort during the treatment is very short lived.
