What can I expect from my first Brazilian wax?

Your male Brazilian wax will be performed by either a male or female therapist. We are fully qualified and licenced professionals with many years of waxing experience and the treatment is strictly professional that yields quick, hair-free results.

Will I feel uncomfortable?

This really depends but we provide a male Brazilian waxing experience that is friendly, gentle and professional. We also follow the latest safety standards, use only disposable tools and always wear gloves when performing your male Brazilian wax. If you feel uncomfortable at any point just let us know and we'll try and assist however we can.

What if I get an erection?

This may happen, but we've been waxing men professionally for over 20 years and it is no different to visiting a doctor. It's our job to make sure you're comfortable so we can focus on waxing. There is an inevitable amount of touch involved as we will stretch and manipulate the skin in order to apply the wax properly. If the therapist feels you are being inappropriate and abusing our service, or continued erections are a problem we will not hesitate to pause your appointment, or cancel it entirely and ask you to leave. We have a policy specifically for male waxing so that our staff are protected and to recognise inappropriate behaviour. Our therapists will not hesitate to report any inappropriate incidences to management. Please refrain from making any lewd jokes or comments as it is not the place to do so.

What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive at Archon for your male Brazilian wax you’ll be greeted warmly and offered a complimentary drink. If it’s your first treatment with us you will be required to fill out a quick form. We have soothing music and essential oils to help you relax. This should help ease any nerves beforehand.

Once you’re ready we’ll invite you into your treatment room where you’ll be for approximately 15-20 minutes (depending on the wax). We’ll let you undress in private and lie on the bed, which we cover in clean paper cloth and towels.

Is male Brazilian waxing complicated?

Not at all, it's a quick and simple treatment. Once our hands are washed and our gloves are on we will wipe down the skin. This is done with a pre-wax solution to remove both oil and to kill bacteria. Talcum powder is then applied which prevents the wax from sticking directly to the skin. Then we can proceed to apply the wax and remove the pubic hair. Once all the hair has been removed we can then apply a soothing lotion.

What do I do during?

The process of having a male Brazilian is fairly straightforward and is performed quickly. During your treatment we will ask that you assume a number of positions, as well as helping us to keep skin taught. Please rest assured that we have done this many thousands of times, and there’s no need to feel embarrassed. Any compromising positions are designed to ensure an effective and efficient treatment so that you can finish sooner and smoother. You're welcome to talk about what you did on the weekend or ask us questions about our process as we go. This is entirely up to you.

How often should I get a male Brazilian?

We suggest you get waxed every 4-6 weeks to maintain results. If you’re looking for a longer lasting Brazilian then lmight be a better solution for you

Does it hurt?

The first time you get a Brazilian wax will undoubtedly hurt the most. Everyone experiences different levels of pain with different skin types and hair thickness. So, unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to experience it yourself. The good news is that the more regularly you wax the less painful it becomes.

Thinking about clipping your pubes?

Male genitalia isn't an easy surface to work with. If used on the wrong angle clippers can easily snag scrotal skin and cause damage.

If you're contemplating shaving your crack hair then please know that it probably won't end well. Sweat, itchy regrowth, bacteria and ingrown hairs are not a good combination and can result in an unpleasant experience between your cheeks. But sometimes you just need to try it in order to rule it out, right?

Our recommendation: If you're adamant on DIY manscaping then stick to a razor for your balls, clippers for your bush, and leave your bum alone. Alternatively, come and see us instead.

Tips + Precautions

  • We need a few millimetres of visible hair prior to your waxing (preferably at least 5mm, so please don't shave in advance

  • Shower prior to your appointment to soften the hair and follicles

  • For hygiene purposes we can provide personal wipes if you're coming straight from work, please don't be embarrassed to ask either

  • Avoid any deodorants, lotions or exfoliants prior to your appointment

  • Some people take pain medication prior to their appointment

  • Where possible, do not wear genital piercings, jewellery, or cockrings

  • Waxing can cause inflamed follicles, redness and ingrown hairs. During your appointment we'll outline a number of ways to minimise this

  • For post-wax comfort, it’s advisable to wear loose clothing, cotton underwear or no underwear at all.

  • Don't take a bath, sauna or use a steam room

  • Stay clear of soaps, perfumes, chemicals or dyes immediately after your wax

  • Sex should be avoided as any friction may cause inflammation

  • Products with tea tree oil, lavender, and antibiotic ointments are good post-wax treatments to minimise discomfort and ingrown hairs. We have post-wax products available at Archon if required

  • After 48 hours you may exfoliate the skin using disposable cloth to prevent introducing bacteria

  • If you are currently on Accutane or Retin-A, Renova, Differin please be advised that these medications can weaken the skin. We strongly advise against waxing if you are on these medications to prevent injury.

  • Before you come in for your appointment it can be a good idea to take an anti-inflammatory. We don’t deny that pain is an inevitable part of waxing, but we do try and minimise discomfort as much as possible. Please also refrain from using lotions on your groin area prior to your male Brazilian.
