Is waxing painful?

In short - yes. But we use a variety of waxes specifically formulated for different skin types and body regions. We understand that having hair pulled out is not the most pleasant of feelings, however, we do have techniques for minimising pain. We are able to provide an efficient and thorough wax which means that any discomfort experienced will be short lived. You may also try pain-killers before your wax if you feel you need them. The good news is that regular waxing often results in less hair growth which can reduce pain for future waxing treatments.

How long does waxing last?

It depends on your normal hair growth rates and hormones, but generally 2-6 weeks. As waxing removes the hair from the follicle it can take a while for the new hair to reach the skin's surface. During the summer months, your hair will grow faster due to an increase in blood circulation closer to the surface. For this reason, a lot of our Brisbane clients tend to get waxed more during summer. If the hair is waxed often enough it can weaken the follicle and can cause permanent loss of hair.

Can I have sex after getting waxed?

Don't let us stop you, but any sort of physical activity that results in sweating or friction is unadvisable as it can irritate the skin. It is best to wait up to 48 hours before engaging in any sexual activity. This is particularly important if you are getting any Brazilian waxing treatments.

will i feel too exposed?

Possibly, but waxing is something we do daily and we see all sorts of people, shapes and body parts. So there is no need to feel embarrassed. Even if you are getting a full body wax you can leave layers of clothing on for comfort and warmth, and take them off when we are about to treat those areas. We also have disposable briefs that you can wear if that would make you feel more comfortable.

Will the hair grow back thicker?

Hair doesn't get thicker from waxing or shaving and this is a myth. With waxing the hair grows back slower, and the new hair will initially be finer (as opposed to shaving which cuts it off at the base).
